Guide for contributing

Thank you for your interest in contributing to Bharat Vidhan. This platform is built and maintained by a community of volunteers who share a common goal: making Indian legal knowledge freely accessible to everyone.

1. Register for an account.
2. Log in to Bharat Vidhan.
3. Navigate to the page you wish to improve.
4. Using the Page Menu at the top, Click the Edit Page button.
5. Make your changes and save the page.

You can help by:

• Creating new articles on laws, legal concepts, and procedures.
• Improving existing content.
• Correcting errors and outdated information.
• Adding references and citations.
• Linking related pages together.
• Improving formatting and readability.
• Expanding explanations in simple language.

Ensure that information is based on reliable sources such as:

• Acts and statutes
• Rules and regulations
• Official government publications
• Court judgments
• Law Commission reports

Present information objectively. Avoid personal opinions, advocacy, or political commentary.

Write in a simple and understandable manner. Explain legal terms where necessary.

Whenever possible, provide references to official documents, legislation, notifications, or judgments.

Before making substantial changes:

• Read the existing content carefully.
• Preserve useful information.
• Improve rather than replace content where possible.
• Use the page discussion feature if a major change may be controversial.

Before creating a new page:

• Search to ensure a similar page does not already exist.
• Use clear and descriptive page titles.
• Organize content using headings and subheadings.
• Link the page to related topics.

You can use the Add new page link for creating a new page easily. Please make sure to choose the appropriate folder (or namespace) for adding a page.

Bharat Vidhan uses DokuWiki syntax.

Please see Formatting Syntax. You can also use the visual editor for adding, but please not links are automatically removed when copy pasting for other sources.

Please do not:

• Add false or misleading information.
• Copy copyrighted content without permission.
• Post advertisements or promotional material.
• Add offensive, abusive, or defamatory content.
• Provide legal advice while presenting it as authoritative guidance.

Contributions may be reviewed by administrators or experienced contributors. Content may be edited, revised, or removed to maintain quality and accuracy.
